The Pediatric Trauma Program Coordinator assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Upstate University Hospital's Level One Pediatric Trauma Program....
Responsibilities are varied among administrative duties to include organization of services and systems necessary across the care continuum for providing a multidisciplinary approach to care to the injured pediatric patient. This will include the participation and coordination of the following: the pediatric trauma registry, pediatric trauma performance improvement program, pediatric injury prevention, pediatric outreach, research and preparation for verification as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. The Pediatric Trauma Coordinator will have a collaborative working relationship with Upstate University Hospital Trauma Coordinator. Coordinator interacts and works closely with entities of the trauma system including the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director, Department of Surgery and Pediatric Surgery, Emergency Department Adult Trauma, various inpatient units, and Hospital Administration. The coordinator will interface and have a presence in areas involved in the care of the pediatric trauma patient. The Pediatric Trauma Program Coordinator demonstrates expertise in the care of the pediatric trauma patient and serves as an in-hospital resource in addition to a regional resource actively involved in REMAC, RTAC and STAC. Coordinator is also involved in professional trauma organizations at the state and national level. The Pediatric Trauma Program Coordinator is both an internal and external representative and liaison for the Pediatric Trauma Program.
RN, NYS License, Associate's degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years satisfactory post licensure acute care RN experience. BSN preferred. Must have clinical experience in the care of the injured patient. Pediatric clinical experience preferred. TNCC provider preferred. Certification in specialty area preferred. Must maintain 16 hours of trauma-related education per year. Must complete position-related education within a year of hire including: TOPIC, Optimal, TQIP and registry courses as available. Must participate in professional organizations at the regional and national level. Some travel will be required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. Microsoft office suite, specifically Excel, Access and PowerPoint experience preferred.
