The Trauma PI Manager oversees and facilitates Performance Improvement activities for Trauma Services, which includes oversight of quality indicators. Activities include managing data entry into the trauma database, assuring timely mandated submission of state and national trauma data. Maintains a system for effective data flow. Works closely with the Trauma Services Director and Trauma Medical Director. Helps to guide outreach, injury prevention, and educational activities based on trauma center data.
Oversight and management of trauma quality indicators
Problem solving and resolution of trauma quality opportunities, demonstrating loop closure
Works with physicians, patients, staff, external agencies and other organizations to address trauma quality, safety, and process issues.
Prepares reports appropriate to audience utilizing multiple computer-based software and web-based applications.
Demonstrates proficiency in abstracting and collecting trauma case data and using the trauma database to report trauma case data.
Supervises the trauma registrars.
Helps to guide and facilitate outreach, injury prevention, and educational activities based on trauma data
Manages data entry and assures timely and accurate submission of mandated state, national, and corporate data.
Completes all mandatory education requirements of Reston Hospital Center, Virginia Office of EMS state trauma center regulations, and the Trauma Services department.
Promotes teamwork and positive relationships and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders
Exercises discretion in performance of duties. Adheres to HIPPA regulations. Recognizes and protects sensitive information.

Minimum 5 years experience in ED/ICU/Trauma/Critical Care
Excellent computer skills and proficient in use of various software and web-based applications in daily work
Highly developed critical thinking skills
Supervisory experience preferred
Quality/Performance Improvement, trauma patient care, project management, trauma programmatic experience
Previous Trauma Registry experience, knowledge of ICD coding, AIS, ISS, and AAAM coding
EMS Experience Helpful
TNCC Provider, Instructor or Course Director
Minimum of Associates Degree in Nursing
Bachelors, Masters Degree and/or advanced certificate In Nursing or related field
Certifications CEN, CCRN, CTRN, or TNS
Licensed in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse.
