The Trauma PI Coordinator will establish and maintain the efficient operation of the trauma PIPS process (performance improvement and patient safety).

Job Responsibilities

The Trauma PI Coordinator works in collaboration with the trauma program leadership and is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the trauma PI program to improve the quality of trauma care encompassing all areas and disciplines of the hospital that participate in the management of the injured patient at ORMC.  The Trauma PI Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating performance improvement activities including data collection, analysis, trending, and benchmarking of data outcomes at the local, regional, state, and national levels.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

 

Minimum Experience: Three years of experience in an acute care setting required with working experience in the emergency department, trauma, critical care, and/or quality improvement preferred. Experience in the development and implementation of educational programs preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships, to have cogent (verbal and written) communication skills, accept and implement change, problem solve and make decisions. Must have the aptitude to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

 

Required Certification/ Registration: Current NY RN license, BLS, ACLS required. Completion of TNCC, ATCN, TOPIC courses, and/or TCRN; CCRN, CEN certification preferred. If not completed, complete TOPIC course and obtain TCRN certification within one year of hire and/or upon eligibility of criteria (TCRN certification requires 2 years of experience equivalent to an average of 2000 practice hours across the trauma care continuum i.e. direct care, supervision, education, and advocacy as well as twenty (20) to thirty (30) hours of trauma specific coursework across the trauma continuum. to sit for examination). Must complete 16 hours of trauma related CE annually. Participation in national trauma organizations preferred (STN, EAST, ATS, AAST).

 

Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, keyboarding, extensive walking around. Working Conditions: Normal office and patient care units.
