William Marx, DO, FACS
Chair, ACS Verification Review Committee

Dr. Marx was active in national and regional trauma system leadership groups. In 2014 he was appointed to the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, and he recently became chair of the Verification Review Committee (VRC). He also served as chair of the New York State Trauma Advisory Committee, according to an obituary.

As VRC chair, Dr. Marx took a leading role in the development of the ACS’s new trauma center standards — Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient: 2022 Standards.

People throughout the trauma world paid tribute to Dr. Marx, noting his ability, professionalism and personal kindness.

“God bless Dr. Bill Marx and his family,” wrote Marco Bonta, MD, FACS, System Chief of OhioHealth Trauma. “Wonderful gentleman. Wonderful friend.”

“He made us one of the better trauma programs in the state if not the country,” said Upstate CEO Robert Corona, DO, to Syracuse.com. “His leadership helped us as we are the second-busiest adult trauma center in the state and the busiest pediatric trauma center in the state.”
