Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, has lost its Level II trauma center verification from the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
An ACS spokesman confirmed the change in verification status on December 7, according to a report in the Idaho Statesman.
During the hospital’s recent reverification survey, ACS reviewers identified “four findings that were documentation/administrative in nature”, according to a hospital press release. “Immediate actions were implemented to resolve the documentation/administrative findings and a survey for re-verification is in the process of being scheduled for spring of 2024.”
According to Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient (2022 Standards), a trauma center will receive a “not verified” outcome if reviewers determine it is (a) noncompliant with any Type I standard or (b) noncompliant with more than 3 Type II standards.
The Saint Alphonsus press release stated that clinical services and patient care have not been impacted: “Our patients and community can continue to feel confident in having access to the highest quality Trauma care available locally.”
According to the press release, Saint Alphonsus retains its state trauma center designation, which is verified by the Idaho Time Sensitive Emergency Council.
